Reflection Blog on Color
Color was the lesson in class today.
It was interesting to learn about the color wheel, color harmony, and the context of how colors are used. When I think of color, especially when I use paints or coloring pencils, I don’t think about color hues or saturations. To know that there are people who spend hours working on creating the right color scheme or looking for the right color shades is crazy.
But is it really that silly? It is actually truly impressive the lengths color dictates the very lives of humans. Consider what a doctor dresses as, putting aside aesthetics, this profession wears traditionally white cloaks. Other vocations like being a lawyer, a dancer, or a park ranger are also careers that fall under certain areas of the color wheel and it is impressive.
When the YouTube video of Disney’s ‘World of Color,’ was shown, color was a vital factor to the show. I was so enthralled with the show, the colors of the water made the picture projections more meaningful. It was amazing to see how the water changed colors and added to the depth of what was being presented, never once did it feel as if I was a person watching sections of movies on a small lake. Rather the elements of water, music and color worked in harmony to present a show that had viewers forget that this was about the very best of color and how it impacts our views and expressions.
It’s crazy to think how impactful color has in our lives and I wonder what else this class is going to do with color.
